Suck It Haters! Kathy Griffin Wins Another Emmy!

Kathy Griffin took home her second Emmy for Best Reality Program for her hit show, My Life on the D-List.

Her speech was low on controversy this year but still gave the crowd a few sassy remarks.

Griffin is coming off an amazing week as she just added an unprecedented 4th show at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles after the first three nights sold out!

Still on the D-List? That's going to be a tough argument these days.

PS: Loving her new hair cut! It was looking a little ragged during My Life... this year.

Bravo's A-List Awards Barely Make The Grade

I caught the first annual Bravo A-List Awards tonight. It was flamboyant, funny, a little yuppie and full of advertisements...basically it was like every other Bravo show ever.

Kathy Griffin hosted, but even on an award show that no one's really taking seriously, she didn't get to cut loose. The crowd (surprisingly B-List considering the occasion) didn't seem to get a lot of the jokes.

The awards were a little confusing. They weren't necessarily awards for Bravo shows, TV shows or entertainment in general. They gave out awards for A-List designers, restaurants, best ass, and a few acting awards. It's like they picked out some categories from a be-dazzled hat and decided to run with it. It was an hour and a half episode of Stuff White People Like.

The only upside to so many random awards is that some folks who don't usually get nominated for anything walked away with wins. Three cheers for Dana Delaney (Desperate Housewives) and Rainn Wilson (The Office) who finally got the credit they deserved.

So what's my five word review of tonight's show:

Meh. Better than Housewives re-runs.

Kathy Griffin Up In Roker's Grill

Is anyone else glad Kathy Griffin is back in heavy rotation? The fourth season of her Emmy winning show returns next week and she just hosted the first annual A-List Awards on Bravo.

She appeared on the Today Show this morning to promote both programs and in between pleasantries and one-liners, Kathy "all-up-on" Al Roker. It's about time someone did it. Lord knows we've all been tempted.

You can check out the whole thing on Defamer.

You're welcome.

Not So Golden Globes

Things People Care About More Than The Golden Globes This Year:

  • What's for dinner
  • American Gladiators
  • The SAG Awards
  • Their children
  • Global Warming
The last two may be a stretch, but you get my point. The Golden Globes are going to be truly lackluster this year. No red carpet. No drunk celebrities. No worst dressed list or awkward acceptance speeches.
So I guess I'll try to turn lemons into lemonade:
One light at the end of the tunnel?  Kathy Griffin is helping out Matt Lauer with pre-show commentary. She was fired from E! a few years ago for being too abrasive. Too bad she was the best thing to happen to them since Seacrest started working 8 shows. It will be fun to watch Matt Lauer turn red at some of her quips.
Other good news? The show won't be so long. An hour long press conference means less bull. No in memoriam, no stiff accountants, no unintelligible comments from the HFPA. Just the winners. I'll miss the fancy clothes but I won't be stuck in front of the TV all night...unless I want to be.

Hump Day Updates

  • Kathy Griffin has a new stand-up special on Bravo tomorrow. I saw her perform here in Nashville a few months ago and it was the best night I've had here. If her new show Straight to Hell,is half as good, then I will probably pee my pants from laughing...twice. Plus, she'll probably talk about Jesus-Gate!

  • Diane Sawyer interviewed the Dilleys on Good Morning America today. Remember them? They're America's first surviving set of sextuplets or sixlets...not to be confused with the delicious chocolate candy. The Dilleys are 14 now and they have shaggy hair. My gaydar was totally off though. The little boy who loved Pocahontas, and ballroom dancing competitions is now a little more straight-laced so to speak. There's always college.

  • The Sci-Fi Channel is putting a new spin on the Wizard of Oz with their mini-series Tin Man. It kind of plays on the dark and morbid aspects of the original, plus it's a bit futuristic. For example, OZ is an acronym now for Outer Zone. Trippy huh? If that isn't enough it stars Zooey Deschanel (Elf, All The Real Girls) and Alan Cumming, two of my favorites. Tin Man starts on Sunday.
