I did a triathlon today and I'm tried. I really could've used some of this.
At least I wasn't this guy...yikes.

Is This Commercial Too Sexy? Ask The Deer With Boobs
This French ad for the popular juice drink Orangina is taking some serious flack for being way too provocative. I don't consider myself a prude, but after watching the 60 second commercial I couldn't help but blush. That's not an easy thing to do when you're Black.
See for yourself:
I don't think the ad would be half as bad if the roles were played by people as opposed to cartoon animals with human sex parts. And just how did these animals get access to these supplies, clothes and Orangina in the first place? I'm left with so many questions...and the urge to puke.

Finally!
Just in time for the conclusion of Pride Month, Bravo made a little TV history and ran the first lube commercial targeted at the gay community.
If you missed the spots when they ran on Monday night, you can check them out here.
The commercials aren't that amazing but it's still a nice step forward. And who's the ad genius who thought of Boy Butter? They're going to make a killing.

JCPenney's May Posses An Ounce Of Cool After All
This JCPenney ad never saw the light of day because the bigwigs thought it promoted teen sex (it totally does). But the ad-wizards who made it submitted it to the advertising competition at Cannes...and it won.
Now everybody wins! Check out the hilarious ad that would've made JCPenney cool again.

Happy Mother's Day From edubTV!
Nerve put together a hilarious list of the top 50 commercial parodies of all time. If you feel like spending a good hour watching old SNL, MadTV and SCTV favorites, I highly encourage you to check it out.
One of my favorite parodies came in at number seven, just in time for Mother's Day.
To all the mom's out there: have a wonderful day, you deserve it. You also deserve to get some flattering pants.

Commercials I'm Currently In Love With
I watch a lot of TV and even with the wonder of Tivo I still manage to catch my fair share of the commercials. Lately, there have been two that I've actually rewinded and watched over and over again. Amazingly, they're both for cell phone carriers. Whoa.
It makes me want to buy a phone, buy my mother a phone and do horrible things to flowers. That's a lot for a 30 second spot.
I laughed out loud the first time I saw this. It doesn't make me want a Sprint phone, but I do want to wear a fire helmet. Mission Accomplished.

Taking The "Live" Part Very Seriously
Jimmy Kimmel is introducing live commercials to his program in late May.
The practice was very popular in the early years of television. Not only were shows produced live, but advertisers sponsored entire programs. The trend reversed after companies started dictating content or results of game shows (watch the movie Quiz Show for more).
While Kimmel will be the irst contemporary host to work the live spots in every night, Leno ran a live commercial for Garmin last year.
Please note that all of Kimmel's commercials will be for Ben Affleck-fucking related products and services.

Tunes on TV Will Probably Keep You From Sleepless Nights
While searching for the lyrics to that catchy song from the Kia commercial, I stumbled on a great blog I thought I'd share.
It's called Tunes on TV and it answers those burning music questions you get while watching your favorite shows and ads. Who sings that song? What are those lyrics? Where can I find it?
The blogger provides lyrics, links to iTunes and sometimes YouTube clips of the commercials just so you can be sure. It's a great blog and I'm definitely adding it to my Google Reader.
Just an FYI.
